Overview

A wheeled cartridge filter with a self-supporting articulated arm. Position the hood near the arc and the fume is captured at source rather than being diluted into the workshop. Single- and twin-arm versions cover one or two welding stations.

  • In metal processing industries such as steel fabrication, automotive manufacturing, shipbuilding, and machinery production, processes like welding, laser cutting, grinding, and polishing are widely applied. These operations are essential for shaping and assembling metal components but continuously generate fumes and fine airborne particles. Both robotic welding lines and manual workstations operate simultaneously, requiring effective air filtration systems to ensure stable production and a safe working environment.
  • During welding processes (MIG, TIG, CO2), large amounts of submicron metal fumes are generated, containing harmful substances such as iron, manganese, chromium, and nickel oxides, along with toxic gases like ozone (O3) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). Laser cutting and plasma cutting produce high-temperature smoke mixed with fine dust, while grinding and polishing release airborne particles and sparks. These pollutants can easily enter the human respiratory system, causing long-term health issues, reducing productivity, and increasing risks of fire and explosion
  • To solve these problems, a high-efficiency Fume Extractor is required. With flame-retardant filters, spark arrestors, and multi-stage filtration such as HEPA and activated carbon, it can remove over 99.9% of fine particles. Flexible extraction arms capture fumes directly at the source, preventing diffusion. For larger workshops, centralized systems can collect emissions from multiple stations, ensuring clean air, regulatory compliance, and safer production conditions.

What buyers ask before ordering

  • How far does the arm reach?

    The standard arm is 1.2 m. Longer arms and wall-mounted versions are available — tell us your station layout.

  • Single arm or twin arm?

    One arm per welder working at the same time. Two welders operating simultaneously need the twin-arm HYGB, which also carries double the filter area.

  • Does it handle stainless steel welding fume?

    Yes. Stainless fume is finer and more hazardous, so we recommend the higher filter area and a suitable cartridge grade.

  • Can the filtered air be returned to the workshop?

    In many cases yes, which saves heating in cold climates. Whether recirculation is permitted depends on the material being welded and your local regulations.

  • How often do cartridges need changing?

    It depends on duty hours and process. Pulse cleaning extends life considerably. We quote spare cartridges with the machine so the running cost is visible up front.
